Technology of electrohydoimpulse melt treatment in the ladle at precasting stage
+ This technology provides
Melt outgassing and removal of nonmetallic inclusions
Increase of melt fluidity and moulds fillability.
Defects of gasshrink origin elimination.
Receipt of favorable structure in a cast metal, influencing its structural levels, from corpuscular to macro.
Positive influence on cast metal properties.
- Essency
Pressure pulses of a high frequency spectrum (0,1 – 100000 Hz) are sent to the ladle with the melt by means of a special waveguide from the electric-discharge generator of elastic vibrations. This essentially accelerates heat-, mass-transfer, and physicochemical processes at the macro- and micro- levels.
+ Advantages
- environmental safety in combination with successful treatment;
- very low electric energy consumption in comparison with other methods of out-of-furnace treatment: <2 kW·h/t;
- short-time processing: <5 minutes;
- ease of service and high reliability of used high-voltage equipment;
- possibility of both independent use of the method and of its interconnecting with the other technological techniques of out-of-furnace treatment.
+ Efficiency
- free hydrogen removal, not less than 30 %;
- reduction of quantity of nonmetallic inclusions, on 15 %;
- decomposition of macro- and microstructure;
- decrease of cold brittleness threshold on 20°С; decrease of spread in values of mechanical data, not less than 15 % (mouldings of shipbuilding and general-purpose steels);
- increase of wear-resistance, not less than 50 % (mouldings of high-carbon alloys, working in conditions of hydroabrasive wear);
- decrease of magnetic conductivity in high-carbon alloys for electrotechnical purposes on 4-10 % ;
- impermeability increase of irregular-shape castings of aluminum alloys, working in conditions of high pressures on 10%; decrease of adverse effect of iron admixtures and structural heredity at remelting of secondary aluminum alloys.
- Manufacturing application
At shipbuilding and machine-building enterprises of Ukraine and Commonwealth of Independent States for melt treatment in the ladles with capacity up to 50t. Equipment development for 350t. of ladles was carried out.
